EVENT INFORMATION

​The 2014 P.B.Soldier Rebels on Decks Skate Day Event is an one (1) day outdoor event taking place in three different markets (Hoboken, New Jersey; Seattle, Washington and Newark, New Jersey) right in the heart of hottest skateboard parks.


June 28th* - Castle Point Park (Hoboken, NJ)

August 2nd & 3rd*-Judkins Park (Seattle, WA)

August 23rd* - Washington Park (Newark, NJ)

The event is a part of a collaborative effort between two organizations; Saving Our Selves (S.O.S.) and PBS Media to support minority students, by providing scholarship opportunities. The event will also provide relevant, engaging, informative entertainment and professional networking opportunities for the members of the Tri-state area. Among the attractions provided during the competition are interactive activities include; Kickoff Event, Skateboard Competition, Music and Dance Showcase. Our organization works with its community partners to promote awareness of the competition and the many activities taking place to serve as a bridge to bring the community together.​ Come display your talent and be deemed the Number 1: Rebel on Deck.

​P.B.Soldier: Rebels on Decks Skate Day Event offers three (3) divisions for all levels of play.
(1) Adult Division; (2) Youth Divisions [Grades 6-8, Grades 9-12]

Registration fee is $10.00 for all entrants w/ the purchase of P.B.Soldier the graphic novel. The general public is also invited to attend the event at no cost.

Your participation will assist with providing scholarship opportunities for High School students.  This is the only event that will provide a forum where youth and adults will be able to congregate, and interact with each other in a positive environment.

How much is registration?​
Adult Division $10.00

Please note that prices will for Adult and Youth Divisions will increase after June 21, 2014 TO $25.00.
THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR REGISTRATION FEES.

When is the registration deadline?​
In order to guarantee your division, P.B.Soldier: Rebels on Decks Skate Day Event must receive your completed registration form (either online or mailed in) on or before Friday, June 20, 2014.

When will schedules be released?​
Schedules will be available on Friday prior to the event date. To check your schedule after this time, click here.

I completed the the payment process but I have not received email communication that I am registered. When will receive communication?​
An email will be sent out to the team captain immediately upon your team completing the registration process. It may take some time to receive the email depending on your email service provider. If you complete the payment process and do not receive an email within 48 hours, please email us at info@pbsoldier.com and let us know.

I went through the online registration process, but was not able to complete the payment step at the end. Is my team registered?​
No. In order for the online registration to be submitted and processed, the payment step must be completed successfully. Upon successful completion of the payment step, a receipt will be sent to the email address entered during the payment process. Once the team registration has been fully processed, the entrant will receive an entry confirmation email containing the entrant number as well as other vital tournament information. This could take up to several weeks to receive.

What are the divisions I can register for?​
P.B.Soldier: Rebels on Decks Skate Day Event offers three (3) divisions for all levels of play.

All youth divisions are age specific.



Why have this event?

Objective:

• Promote Positive values of skateboard culture.
  - Active fitness
  - Positive Social bonds
  - Initiative and dedication

• Provide a forum where youth and adults can congregate, and interact with each other in a positive environment.

• Raise social awareness within the community.

• Provide a platform for young people to express themselves through sports, music, and dance.

• Mobilize young people to become more involved in community activities and organizations.

Where are the kickoff for each event located?

 

The Kickoff for each Skate Day Event will be displayed on the Course Page of the Skate Day Event.

Each participant od the Rebels on Decks Event will Start at the Kickoff location and then together everyone will skate to the competition site. 

 

 

Who are the organizations hosting this event?

 

Saving Our Selves (S.O.S.) is an Non-Profit 501 (c) (3) Organization established in 2004.​

Mission
Our vision is to create an environment in which all children feel a sense of purpose and belonging, which inspires them to live without violence. Saving Our Selves’ primary mission is to decrease incidents of violence through Preventative Educational Programs, Direct Intervention and Mediation and to mobilize community members into a board based grassroots coalition in order to promote a better quality of life for all Greater Newark Area residents.

To realize this vision, our activities will revolve around three (3) core mission elements:

• To create safe heavens for young people that need immediate intervention;

• To implement a continuum of programmatic activities around gang prevention ad intervention; and

• To connect youth with services and resources that increase their opportunities for success.
